Pentastar 78mm Bored Throttle Body
Meet our lathe-bored throttle body, thoughtfully engineered for the 3.6L V6 Pentastar engine. Unlike conventional ported units that taper back down to 74.5mm, this component maintains a consistent, performance-enhancing straight-through 78mm bore.
Equipped with a newly CNC machined butterfly plate made out of 6061 T6 aluminum, which is thinner than the stock plate, our throttle body introduces a novel approach to airflow management. A butterfly plate shaft running through the center of a throttle body obstructs approximately 16.35% of a 78mm bore's cross-sectional area. By reducing the shaft's diameter by half, we've decreased this obstruction to approximately 12.93%, which is a significant 21% reduction in the obstruction caused by the shaft alone. This substantial improvement, combined with the new, thinner butterfly plate, allows your engine to breathe more freely and efficiently.
We have also incorporated a chamfered rim at the bore of the throttle body. This finely machined edge helps to reduce turbulent airflow at the mouth of the throttle body which contributes to the overall efficiency of the component.
